Project Highlights

The purpose of this section is to display a breadth of features I led. Most of these were very robust projects that deserve more explanation that I give them here.

Players

The player screen on a cable replacement service is where the user spends the vast majority of their time. I became very familiar with the player functionality that users are most familiar with on SmartTV, AppleTV, FireTV, & Roku, iOS, Android, & Web, on all of the various services. We both wanted to design a player that was innovative, yet did not require a large learning curve.

My roles: Competitve research, wireframes, user testing, high fidelity design, animated prototypes, asset handoff, UAT, release signoff.

Mobile

I designed the mobile player to function in a portrait orientation as well as landscape. We did not want the player to be a deadend, but rather an opportunity to find more related content or a chance to channel surf.

TV

The first phase of the TV player I designed, we had a lot of success with the browse functionality that lived within the player.  The second phase had extra emphasis on the browse navigation, including channel filters (ie. movies, recent), browse related content, etc.

Previous channel

The "Last Channel" button has been a useful feature on television remotes for decades. Unlike our competitors, it was important for us to find a solution to include this feature on our tv apps. The press & hold gesture proved to be a great solution based on its usage.

Binge watching

We encouraged our users to DVR as much content as possible. It only made sense that we give users the tools to binge their recorded videos as well as our vast VOD library.

My roles: Competitve research, wireframes, high fidelity design, animated prototypes, asset handoff, UAT, release signoff.  (Roku)

Multiview concept

I Ieft the company before this feature went to production, but I was proud of the various concepts we put together. It was a very complex feature to map out.

My roles: Competitve research, wireframes, animated prototypes, concept. (AppleTV)

Detail Screen Template

The goal was to create a screen that acted as a detail view for a series, movie, special feature, sports team & more.

My roles: Competitve research, wireframes

TV Guide

The guide proved to be the most familar screen for cord cutters. The goal was to improve the cable guide experience while staying faithful to some of the most familiar guide elements.

My roles: Competitve research, wireframes, user testing, high fidelity design, animated prototypes, asset handoff, UAT, release signoff.  (AppleTV, Roku, FireTV, SmartTV)

Return to tradition

After the first couple phases of the fuboTV guide, the layout only became closer and closer to a traditional cable guide.

Favorite channel reordering

LFavoriting channels is the eaiest way to make those channels most accessible to the user. A good portion of our users would favorite many channels and we eventually received a lot of feedback to create functionality for reordering their favorite channels.

My roles:  Competitve research, wireframes, high fidelity design, animated prototypes, asset handoff (Roku)

Search

Typically, search provides the opportunity to find content when you know what you're looking for. I designed this screen for all of our tv platforms.

My roles: Competitve research, wireframes, user testing, high fidelity design, animated prototypes, asset handoff, UAT, release signoff. (Roku, AppleTV, FireTV)

Quick & Easy Log In

Typing in your log in credentials can be quite painful on a tv device, with a little remote. We began to allow our users to sign in on the web and type in a 6 digit code for easier access.

My roles: Competitve research, wireframes, high fidelity design, animated prototypes, asset handoff, UAT, release signoff.

Tile components

Our tiles were designed to be reused for many types of content.

My roles: Layout and documentation of tile components.
